10 Most Influential British Wrestlers Ever (According To An American)
4. Giant Haystacks
A true monster in the British wrestling scene, Giant Haystacks wowed audiences with his size (billed at nearly 7 feet tall) and decades of solid heel work crushing blue-eyes into dust. A program with the equally huge Big Daddy influenced not only ticket sales, but big man wrestling itself for years to come.
Kind of amazing, really, because he was no Big Show or Earthquake in the ring. The man also known as Loch Ness was mind-bogglingly huge, but not exactly a worker in the tradition of many top British names.
But whether he was in the ring with another heel like the masked Kendo Nagasaki or a babyface like Hulk Hogan as part of the abysmal Dungeon of Doom angle, Haystacks still drew the eye like few ever could. Oddly enough, he even won the Stampede International Tag Team Titles with Dynamite Kid!
A religious man who would never fight on Sundays, he's a big man who never quite got his due in North America, but Haystacks looms large to this day in the memories and imaginations of many wrestling fans.
