10 Most Influential People In Women's Wrestling History
6. The Four Horsewomen
When Triple H decided to put added emphasis on women's wrestling in NXT, he needed the perfect roster of competitors to achieve his dreams. Enter Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley and Charlotte, four immensely talented young women who traveled to the developmental brand from a number of different walks of life. But all had the drive and determination to be the best, to deliver when given the opportunity and that appealed to the COO. Over the course of their stints with NXT, the "Four Horsewomen" (as they would refer to themselves behind the scenes) worked several legitimate Match of the Year candidates with one another, making the brand the most must-see in professional wrestling. With every passing live special, the in-ring action got better and better, culminating with a classic effort at TakeOver: Brooklyn that saw Bayley defeat Banks for the women's championship. As that match came to an end, the four women embraced in the center of the ring, providing fans with their own take on the famed "curtain call." It was an unofficial wave goodbye to the days that were but a celebration of everything they had accomplished for the current state of women's wrestling. Just two months later, Bayley and Banks would again make history, becoming the first two women to headline a major WWE event, doing so in an Iron Man match.
