10 Most INFURIATING Wrestling Narratives

8. It's Not The Writers' Fault

So many editorials and think-pieces taking aim at WWE’s woeful and chaotic recent output might as well run for just the two words: Because Vince. Or maybe three: “Because Vince, pal!”

But that joke is wearing as thin as his patience for the ideas he conceived of 10 minutes ago, and there is very little click-based advertisement revenue in it.

It’s also not entirely accurate.

No writer could possibly hope to thread together Vince’s flailing narrative, which is as old and as childish and as shattered as Humpty Dumpty, which, incidentally is the nickname he will bestow upon the horny and stout Otis on next week’s RAW, before writing him out of the show eight minutes into the opening segment.

Week-to-week WWE TV is incomprehensible and fake, but it is also deeply lame, something for which the writers must be held to account. Vince doesn’t write the copy word for word—he’s too busy doing exactly that with commentary—and so it is their fault. Relentlessly sh*tty patter like ‘Ken Dostick’ and ‘Hey-where’d-you-get-that-outfit-TGI Fridays?’ and ‘OK-I-go/No, glow!’ is the fault of the failed sitcom hacks littering that writer’s room.

It’s not David Mamet in there getting a b*llocking off Vince.
