In effect, the Money In The Bank Ladder Match, for all its undeniable, violent appeal, is in complete contravention of pro wrestling's essence. Wrestling is, or was, a simulated form of combat in which its players create the mere illusion of pain. MITB in contrast is a patently rehearsed and contrived match genre that would render suspension of disbelief impossible, were in not for the very real agony its combatants all too literally put themselves through.
