10 Most Insane Vince McMahon Lies WWE Fans Fell For

5. "Despite One Man's Brilliance...

...I can't do it all by myself anymore, that's for sure."

That was Vince McMahon's key line in the December 17, 2018 "united front" address, in which the entire McMahon clan, faced with relentless and fierce criticism, felt they had no choice but to go on television and apologise for the lacklustre product.

Stephanie McMahon was more forthright than Vince, who just had to get himself over as a maverick genius when he was meant to be acting contrite. Even if she was full of sh*t, she had the good sense not to give the game away before she even played it. "We haven't been doing the one thing that my father has always taught us to do, and that's listen to our audience. We're off to a fresh start."

As part of this promise to put on a better show, and to get rid of the boring old tropes that fans were tiring of, Constable Corbin was fired, and Shane McMahon revealed on SmackDown that the automatic rematch clause was "antiquated". Brilliantly, WWE was so constitutionally lazy and stupid that they announced Asuka Vs. Becky Lynch, an automatic title rematch, on Twitter that same day of December 18. They made Paige, outgoing GM, tweet that she'd done an oopsie.

They blamed a second fictional authority figure for their own legitimate stupidity in the span of a week! That's not contrition; it might be the exact opposite. 2019 was worse than 2018, significantly so, but some still took McMahon at his word.

This, despite McMahon, rattled by "What?" chants, saying to the audience that "I can do it without you guys, though!"

He was there to pacify them, the indecipherable awld moron.

Incredibly - or not, since it's Vince - he tried to get away with the same thing within less than a year...
