10 Inspiring Wrestling Transformations
WWE

Bumping before she was born (mother Sweet Saraya worked matches while pregnant), Paige's desperately sad early retirement was another challenging setback during a lengthy run of them starting around 2016.

After a neck injury took her off television just as women's wrestling was hitting its stride on the main roster, relations with WWE were frayed by separate (and disputed) Wellness Policy violations. Controversy followed her real life relationship with then-partner Alberto Del Rio, with various drugs and domestic violence stories presenting a rather bleak public face before their 2017 split. It was around this time she was the victim of having private videos leaked, triggering deeply unjust further scrutiny into her personal life.

She's since admitted to considering suicide at the time as well as developing stress-related anorexia, and a December 2017 in-ring return was terminated just four months later after another neck injury sustained on a house benched her for good.

Astonishingly, she powered through these relentlessly tough years to get sober and become a well-regarded SmackDown General Manager, affable co-host of the short-lived WWE/Fox co-production Backstage, and successful Twitch streamer. One by one and for varying reasons, WWE took all of these things away, but the latter appears to have represented something of a sticking point between the two sides.

Having added "stalker invades home" to her rotten luck just this last week, it's hoped this freshest battle with WWE is one she wins.
