10 Most Meaningless WWE Royal Rumble Wins

1. Alberto Del Rio - 2011

Here i is, the most meaningless Rumble victory ever - Alberto Del Rio in 2011. The whole thing was lame, with a less than over heel (who had only been with WWE for six months) winning from the number 38 position in the 40 man Rumble. He was only in the match for nine minutes, with just two eliminations to his name. It was so underwhelming. The true meaninglessness of it is exacerbated by what happened next, as Del Rio received his title shot in the very first match at WreslteMania XXVII. What makes it even worse than the similar Sheamus debacle is that Del Rio didn't even win the title! Instead, he had to do the job, losing to Champion Edge in an average eleven-minute match. The very next week Edge retired, vacating his title in the process. That only made Del Rio's Rumble win even more of a waste. He'd not gone on to the 'Mania main event, and he'd then done the job to a guy who was leaving anyway. What was the point in ever making him the Rumble winner, just to job him in an opening bout? The mind boggles.
