10 Most Meaningless WWE Royal Rumble Wins

6. Batista - 2014

Batista's 2014 Royal Rumble was one of the biggest duds of all time, not just in Rumble history, but in WWE history. The creative got it all wrong, bringing back a major star who no one in the audience really cared to cheer. He came in at number 28, racked up four eliminations, and won the match fourteen minutes after entering. It was meant to be a joyous babyface moment but, instead, fans booed him out of the building. From the audience point of view, it was supposed to be Daniel Bryan's night, and any other winner was always going to have hollow meaning. WWE then sucked the meaning out of Batista's victory, by turning him heel and opening up the opportunity for Bryan to get a main event WWE Title shot at WrestleMania. While Batista did still feature in the main event, Bryan went on to tap him out, thus winning the title in a match which also featured Randy Orton. What had meant to be a great Rumble to 'Mania journey turned into a glorified jobber role for The Animal.
