6. The Debut Of The Heartbreak Hotel
Date: April 4th Going as far back as 1990 or 1991, there were fans that could tell Shawn Michaels was going to be something very special in the wrestling business. He was exciting in the ring, seemed to have a solid amount of natural charisma, and was getting better with every month. With the debut of his own "talk show" segment (like Piper's Pit for Roddy Piper, The Funeral Parlor for Paul Bearer, etc) called the Heartbreak Hotel, he was able to deliver more of his showmanship that he has come to be known for. While the show wouldn't have the longevity or the specific memorable moments like the aforementioned Piper's Pit, Funeral Parlor, or later talk segments like The Highlight Reel or The Cutting Edge, it allowed him to take his career to the next level. He was still two years away from winning the WWF Title for the first time, and was still a midcard player, but the Heartbreak Hotel was one of the key points in his career that took him from that midcard level to the main event scene in a smooth, effortless transition.
