6. Razor Ramon Vs Rick Martel For The Intercontinental Title
Date: October 11th After Shawn Michaels tested positive for steroids, he left the WWF. Unfortunately, he was the Intercontinental Champion at the time, so he had to be stripped of the title. The company had a tournament to crown a new champion, and it came down to Razor Ramon and "The Model" Rick Martel in the finals. It was treated as a big deal on television, and so it was received as a big deal by the fans. The match itself was really good, with the veteran Martel helping guide Razor to his best match to-date, and helping to make him look like an absolute stud. At the time, Razor was looking like the future of the company. He looked like someone who was going to be competing for the WWF Title before too long, but he needed to make this happen first, to prove that he could handle a bigger workload. He was becoming more and more over with live crowds, and this, his first Intercontinental Title reign, was a very good step for him. Then going on to feud with Michaels, who would return to the company not long after leaving, giving us two fantastic Ladder Matches, only further signaled that Razor had "arrived". Of course, he never reached those lofty levels while with the WWF, but that wasn't due to his lack of effort.
