"Blood & Guts set the industry back 30 years," WWE management types allegedly moaned in the aftermath of the controversial, claret-soaked gimmick match presented by AEW on May 5, 2021.

"Why couldn't they have simply brained each other in the head with full-force concussive elbows? This is exponentially more dangerous, of course, but the blade is just so wrasslin'."

At SummerSlam 2016, Brock Lesnar wrestled Randy Orton in the main event. The build was rushed because the match was simply announced on the basis that it had not yet happened. The tagline read '15 Years In The Making', which was a euphemism for 'Didn't We Do Well Not To Burn Through It Already'.

People were nonetheless half-enthused about the prospect. Many fantasy booked a cool spot in which Orton would score a cracking near-fall by reversing the F5 into an RKO.

Instead, Lesnar cracked open Orton's skull by pounding it repeatedly with the sharp point of his elbow. He was instructed to merely graze it, but either went into business for himself, botched, or was instructed by the secret committee that works on his creative to take it further than that to which Orton had agreed. Regardless, the scene was revolting, disturbing, and Orton suffered a legitimate concussion.

Vince called Chris Jericho a "mark" backstage for checking in on his mate.

"Imagine believing in things that are real," Vince later texted Jericho with a cry-laugh emoji.
