10 Most Misused Wrestlers In WWE History

6. Scott Steiner

How he was used: as a babyface.

How he should have been used: as a heel.

It’s as simple as that. Steiner returned to WWE in 2002 a new man. He’d grown a long ways as a performer since he was last in the company with his brother Rick in the mid-90s. He was now Big Poppa Pump. Your hook up. Holler. If you hear him.

Now, despite how good Steiner was in WCW his last couple of years there, he was going to have a hard time making things work in his new home due to some serious foot problems he was having. Like barely able to move one of his feet type problems. But when he came in as a face to wrestle Triple H, it was pretty much doomed from the start.

No offense to Scott (seriously, don’t hurt me!), but the man is 100 times better at playing a bad guy than a good guy. His rambling, off-the-cuff, scary promos work much better as a villain. However, it took the company nearly 10 months to turn him heel, but by that point he was stuck with Test in a lousy tag team.

This isn’t a case of hindsight being 20/20. This was an obviously bad decision at the time, and made all his freaks out there a bit sad. No one could hear their hollers for help.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
