10 Most Misused Wrestlers In WWE History

7. Doink

How he was used: A creepy, diabolical clown turned happy, fun loving clown.

How he should have been used: Always a creepy clown. ALWAYS!

There is no such thing as a non-creepy clown. It doesn’t exist. Even Ronald McDonald has haunted the dreams of children around the world for decades. So it should come as no surprise that no one was going to cheer a clown in a professional wrestling setting.

The WWE didn't just turn Doink good, though, they went all-in on making him an insanely obnoxious goofball, and teamed him up with a group of smaller wrestlers. It was like sitting on a whoopee cushion filled with s**t.

Matt Osborne was brilliant in the role of Doink, but when he departed, he left very big, floppy shoes to fill. Still, that doesn’t mean you turn the character face! Either retire the act, or find someone else who can handle being evil.

I may be the only one who believes this—but much like Goldust—I think that Doink could have been a character for years, evolving with the times in various forms just like The Undertaker did. Maybe that sounds absurd, but if a zombie can last for over two decades in the business, then a clown could have at least enjoyed a few more years in the spotlight.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
