10 Most Notorious Goldberg Urban Legends

4. He Wants To Wrestle One More Match In WWE

The Legend: That Goldberg wants to return for one more WWE match, possibly at WrestleMania. The Evidence: Goldberg had a relatively short but certainly very memorable career. Like a lot of the superstars of the era (Austin, Angle, Rock) he was on top for a short time but managed to accomplish a lot. Unfortunately for Bill, his wrestling career didn't exactly end on the best terms. As mentioned previously, the Lesnar/Goldberg match at WrestleMania XX was a bit of a shambles. This was the last time that he stepped a WWE ring. Over a decade on from Mania XX, is he ready for another big-money match? Goldberg has certainly talked about it. In January of this year he told SB Nation's Submission Radio regarding a WWE return that:
If they want to do business and do it right, I€™m more than willing to listen. If they want to continue to do what they€™ve done with me in the past. I€™d rather dig a ditch.
Okay, so he's clearly not dying to return but he has said in the past how he would like his son to see him wrestle, now that he's all grown up and there would be huge interest in a one-off Goldberg match in a supershow setting. Goldberg still keeps himself in excellent shape and there are no shortage of fresh matches and interesting programmes for him. WWE has also released a three-disc Goldberg DVD set fairly recently (which was one of WWE's biggest selling DVDs of 2013) and other WCW and Goldberg-related merchandise. Is It True: Never say never. There certainly are good reasons to do it. A Goldberg return would, obviously get people talking about the product. He was one of the biggest stars in the business during one of its hottest periods and he's been gone long enough that the fans have started to miss him. A Goldberg return would also be a huge boon for the WWE Network. The company could constantly shill the Network as a place to see classic Goldberg matches and moments and show clips of them during broadcasts. But Goldberg is 48 years old and has had his problems with WWE in the past. He's clearly still very unhappy about how his WWE spell went in 2003/4 and the way he has been portrayed and treated since then. If WWE were to offer him enough money and the right creative, it could happy but don't hold your breath.
