6. Hogan Claims He Was Never Asked To Put Over Bret Hart In 1993

Story: A lot of fans don't like what happened at WrestleMania 9. Bret Hart lost the WWE Title to Yokozuna in the main event of that show thanks to the interference of Mr. Fuji. Then Hulk Hogan, who wrestled in the midcard, came out to challenge Yoko for the WWE Title. He ended up winning in one minute after some failed interference from Mr. Fuji and it was Hogan in the spotlight again even though he was barely in WWE at that point. According to Hart, the reason Hogan won was to put over Hart at SummerSlam 1993 as a way to "pass the torch" from one babyface to another. That never happened because Hogan dropped the WWE Title back to Yokozuna in controversial fashion at King of the Ring 1993 and Hogan left the company without working with Hart. Hogan has maintained that he never agreed to drop the WWE Title to Bret. As he pointed out in this 2011 interview with Peter Rosenberg, he only agreed to drop the WWE Title back to Yokozuna at the next PPV, which was King of the Ring. In the same interview, Hogan also mentioned that they weren't sure Hart was a main event guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IErSOg_S6-k Why People Believe It: Hogan's supporters will say that he had no reason to lie about it and that he just did what he was told. They also might think that Hart was just bitter that Hogan didn't put him over, so he made up the story. Should We Believe It: No. It made no sense that Hogan would win the WWE Title, then drop it back to Yokozuna because it upstaged Hart and hurt him big time to have Hogan enter the title picture like that. Not only that, but Hart was already a WWE Champion after beating Ric Flair in 1992. Hogan putting Hart over would have been a huge deal. Vince McMahon likely asked Hogan to do it, Hogan probably said yes initially, but then refused because Hogan always seemed to have issues putting over smaller wrestlers. He should have put Hart over clean.
