10 Most Notorious Stone Cold Steve Austin Urban Legends

2. He Was Mad At The Rock For His "Get The F Out" Promo

Story: Following Austin's WWE departure in 2002, he was buried on television. They were mad that he left and they weren't afraid to let him know on their television shows. WWE brought out Vince McMahon to talk about it. Then The Rock showed up and he basically told Austin to "get the F out" of the company. Apparently, Austin didn't really like that. Here's an excerpt from the February 2003 edition of Raw magazine where Austin delivered the Stone Cold Truth offering up his feelings on his absence. "I was sitting at the house and had to turn on the TV and see The Rock making a special appearance on RAW. This was during the 'Get the €˜F€™ Out' campaign, when we had to change our name to WWE €” which completely sucks. So all of a sudden, you€™ve got Rock out there saying, 'You know, if you don€™t want to be here, then get the €˜F€™ out!' Well genius, I€™d already been out and got out. To me, that was the thing that got my ass the most. Here€™s a guy who I was a tremendous influence on his career in the ring. He€™ll tell you the same thing €” and if he don€™t, he€™s a liar. Anytime he needed advice for a problem, I€™d give him the best advice I could. I always helped that guy out €” I helped everyone who asked. If you wanted my honest opinion, I€™d give it. So anyway, the problem was with me and Vince, it wasn€™t with me and Rock. I thought that was the biggest chickens**t thing I€™d ever seen done to me, so far in the business, for him to go out and call me out. That€™s how he pays me back? That was pathetic." There were many strong statements in Austin's Raw piece, but that one really stood out. Was it a work or a shoot? That's what we don't know. Why People Believe It: It was a strong message sent by WWE, so it's believable that Austin would have a problem with it. Should We Believe It: There's probably some truth to what he's saying about that moment upsetting him, but they also had a WrestleMania 19 match to build up. This magazine came out about one month before that. As much WWE wanted to portray Raw magazine as being a shoot, that definitely could have been a work. I'll say it's about 50/50 in terms of being how he really felt.
