3. Christy Hemme Was Released For Having An Affair With Triple H
The Legend: That Christy Hemme was released by WWE in December 2005 for 'acting inappropriately' around Triple H. The Evidence: Christy Hemme's release caught a lot of people off guard in 2005. She was reportedly well-liked by people backstage, was keen to learn and improve and already had a WWE-promoted Playboy spread under her belt. Out of all of the prospective divas of the time, Hemme was deemed to have the greatest upside. She had relocated to Louisville, Kentucky (home of OVW) so that she could continue to hone her skills even when she wasn't on the road. Hemme had done everything the company had asked of her, including giving Lillian Garcia a kiss on Raw (which was apparently punishment for Garcia partying a little too hard during a tour). With news of her release, the internet rumour mill went into overdrive. One reason that was reported was to do with Hemme 'acting inappropriately' around Triple H. Word got back to Stephanie who, needless to say, was less than pleased with Hemme's 'excitement' about travelling with her husband. Is It True: NeitherHemme, Triple H, Stephanie nor anyone from WWE has ever said that it is. Just after her release, Hemme cited budget cuts as the reason for her dismissal. In 2008, however, she gave a much more cryptic answer in an interview with the TNA website. Hemme said:
My departure from WWE was on my own terms because I stuck to my guns on my morals and values as a human being. I knew in my gut that it would be the end, but I also knew that carrying guilt for knowingly doing something against what I believed wasn't worth getting ahead. Leaving broke my heart... but doing the right thing is something I will always be proud of.
