10 Most Notorious WWE Diva Urban Legends

4. Why The Kat Was Fired

The Legend: Just why was former WWE diva The Kat released from her contract in February 2001? The Evidence: The Kat was one of the WWF's most popular female performers from late 1999 to early 2001. The real-life wife of Jerry 'The King' Lawler, she was involved in some pretty infamous moments including the time that she flashed her breasts (against the orders of management) at Armageddon 1999. Kat was involved in a storyline with the Right to Censor group in early 2001. Their feud resulted in a match between Lalwer and RTC foreman Steven Richards at No Way Out where, if Lawler won The Kat would get her 'right to nudity' but if Richards won then The Kat would have to join the censorious stable. Richards won the match and The Kat joined the group and then, just two days later, she was gone. Vince McMahon fired her. Lawler was understandably upset and demanded an explanation but none was forthcoming. He quit in protest. The Kat stayed quiet for years but when she did resurface and gave interviews in the late 2000s, she could not come up with a reason herself. The Verdict: So just why was The Kat released? There have been many reasons given but none appear concrete. One reason is that Chyna didn't want her around anymore and was jealous at The Kat being offered a Playboy cover shoot. Other sources cite The Kat having an attitude problem. Nobody can really give a definite answer as to why and, until Jim Ross or Vince McMahon come out an say outright, we'll probably never know.
