10 Most Over-HATED Wrestlers In The World Right Now

7. CM Punk

CM Punk
AEW

CM Punk was one of the most over-hated people in wrestling before he even returned to the sport through AEW.

This is inevitable when you criticise WWE as vociferously as Punk has over the years. And, after being forced to work through myriad debilitating injuries and health conditions and getting fired on his wedding day, the current AEW star has greater reason to do this than most. Punk's issues with WWE ran so deep that he fell out of professional wrestling entirely, embarking on a seven-year hiatus that was only broken when he and Tony Khan struck the right deal in August 2021, with Punk spurning many an opportunity to come back along the way.

Even when you remove his oft-inconsistent booking from the equation, Punk is well within his rights to feel aggrieved by his treatment in WWE.

Today's tribalist environment has emboldened Punk's critics. Misguided terms like "whiny" and "entitled" have been steadily thrown his way since 2014, but it's worse now, when the biased and confused see their favourite promotion as an important part of their identity - and the other side as their mortal enemy. No matter how big a success he proves under Khan's employ, Punk will still get it in the neck from Stamfordian acolytes.
