10 Most Over Wrestlers In WWE Today
3. Brock Lesnar
WWE isn't particularly good at creating new stars in 2017 (and hasn't been for years, hence the omission from this list of any manner of insanely gifted talents). Their myopic approach has, however, benefitted Brock Lesnar.
He genuinely does disturb the mood of any arena in which he sets foot. It's part a reflection of his immense and unparalleled credibility, part confirmation that WWE's outdated star-making machine is still in decent spec. Consider his in-ring record since returning in 2012: there are easily as many duds as there are triumphs. His matches with Triple H were logical, italics denoting the euphemism. They were tedious. He's also phoned it in against Randy Orton and Dean Ambrose, most infamously. None of that matters when he makes his entrance; we have been expertly conditioned by WWE to expect a brutal spectacle, every time, even if evidence to the contrary is borderline depressing.
When Lesnar is motivated, there is no wrestler on the planet like him. He can pop and sicken crowds just by throwing a knee into the stomach of his opponents, and can create drama through his criminally underrated selling. There's no way we should buy the prospect of him losing. That he has the ability to cast even faint doubt over that speaks to his frightening ability.
Obviously, Paul Heyman has worked wonders for him. The presentation of their double act is superb. Lesnar is so obviously a mercenary that he can't even muster much beyond a glib smirk when his advocate cuts the best promos in wrestling. He is above it, and WWE has done incredibly well to acknowledge that.
