10 Most Protected WWE Finishing Moves Ever
9. Punt Kick - Randy Orton
The most protected of wrestling finishers are those which, if performed for real, could send a random fool to the local medical facility.
Randy Orton's Punt Kick is one of them - and perhaps the best, too.
It's a gunshot of a finisher that is best deployed when Orton is on a psychotic rampage. It was established in 2009 during his genuinely and unfathomably marvellous feud vs. Triple H that was bordering on awesome right up until their actual WrestleMania XXV match because before that, Randy Punted Vince McMahon, who sold it like the raw, concussion-inducing death row finish it's intended to portray.
It was utilised in a similar fashion two years later, in 2011, when Orton, week-by-week, Punted each member of The New Nexus, thus making his 'Mania XXVII collision vs. CM Punk a clean, one-on-one encounter. It was such a deft utilisation of the Punt that it reminded you of the sadist Orton could be, even when playing the role of a babyface.
In laymen's terms, the Punt Kick is no more than a running soccer kick to the unprotected skull of Orton's chosen victim. Many would call it a day after stubbing their toe on the side of the couch or, God forbid, after stepping on a hidden piece of Lego, so the Punt Kick?
You're not getting up from it.
