10 Most Radical Wrestling Makeovers

7. Surfer Sting To Crow Sting

Thanks in part to WWE's - and the wrestling community's at large - determination to remember Sting as WCW's answer to The Undertaker, we tend to view him as an equally dark and brooding vigilante.

There is of course plenty of validity in that, but it also ignores the early part of The Icon's career, during which he portrayed a California surfer complete with spiky blonde hair and turquoise blue hippy face-paint (you know, like the ocean).

From there, he pivoted in the mid-1990s to the gimmick we all know and love, inspired by the movie The Crow, whose eponymous character sported almost identical white and black make-up covering the entirety of his face.

All of that amounts to superficial, surface-level difference, but there were notable changes in his persona too. Sting began playing psychological games with his opponents, the ongoing power struggle between WCW and the nWo having forced him to adopt tweener tactics.
