3. Drew McIntyre

There has been no shortage of reminders that Drew McIntyre once dropped the ball, but then picked it up and became the top man. His backstory can't be told without covering that aspect.

At the end of the day, it is a great story. WWE knows of two different McIntyres. First came the dubious protégé of Vince McMahon who would squander his own opportunity and take an extended hiatus, and second came the driven individual who clawed his way through an intensive indie run to reignite his WWE career with a new look and fresh attitude. On returning to WWE in 2017, McIntyre never paused for breath, and just look at him now!

At WrestleMania 26, a comparatively lean Drew failed to grab a Money in the Bank contract. Exactly ten years later, an infinitely fiercer version of the same person stood bellowing in triumph, after cleanly defeating Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship.

As an extra bit of contrast, no fans were present. It only seemed to enhance the implications of this feel-good moment, and the climax of McIntyre's amazing transition.
