10 Most Random AEW Appearances
9. Big Damo
The 25 June 2021 WWE releases were arguably the strangest set of releases WWE has made over the past two years.
None of the names let go were particularly crucial cogs in the machine. WWE can continue onwards without an Arturo Ruas or a Tino Sabbatelli on their books. Breezango were a surprising inclusion, but nonetheless didn't cause a gaping hole in the NXT doubles division. For Killian Dain, though, the move felt like a massive missed opportunity. The Beast of Belfast had plenty left to offer the black-and-gold brand as a towering figure; alas, he, too, entered the free agent market.
His 20 May AEW Rampage appearance served as just another blip on his post-WWE career.
Showing up to be handily defeated by ex-NXT rival Shawn Spears, the Northern Irishman entered without any pomp and circumstance, instead presented as this random goober for the Chairman to squash en route to his Steel Cage match vs. Wardlow. AEW, a promotion which thrives on believability, shouldn't be the place where a man whose entire gimmick is that he quite fancies chairs is the dominating factor in a bout vs. the six-foot-four, 360-pound Damian O'Connor.
The spot of Big Damo in this case should have been filled by Arturo Ruas instead, the useless git.
