10 Most Ridiculous Wrestling Finishing Moves Ever

W-O-R-M!

Although we fans take our wrestling extremely seriously at times, anyone who has never laughed at the absurdity of it all is genuinely missing the point (and also missing out). Modern pro wrestling can be an endless cavalcade of cheesy acting, bizarre costumes and amnesiac referees that come to their senses at alarmingly convenient times. Invisible cameras follow our heroes around backstage and often, men and women who were bitter enemies last week will become €˜bestest friends€™ this week. Still, if you€™re a true fan, that€™s just a few more reasons to love the crap out of it. Today€™s pro wrestling has a heavier bias towards entertainment than ever before €“ and guess what? Comedy is a part of that. Besides, here in the 21st century, the business is well and truly exposed. We KNOW they aren€™t really fighting, so why not have some fun with it? Sure, if someone attacks you, you€™re more likely to slap them in a front facelock than you are to attempt a diving corkscrew moonsault, but which move is the more fun to look at? That being said, there are some signature moves that, frankly, beggar belief. These are usually €˜finishers€™ (i.e. the signature move a wrestler uses to end a match) and, as such, they are expected to carry a power more devastating than a top-rope elbow drop, DDT or fisherman suplex could ever hope to. There have been a lot of silly moves in wrestling€™s long and storied history, but these 10 are probably the most stupid.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
