10 Most Ridiculous Wrestling Matches Ever

10. The WCW Junkyard Invitational - Bash At The Beach 1999

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xry0zu_hardcore-junkyard-invitational_sport Professional wrestling was at its peak in 1999. Both the WWF and WCW were doing monster business all around the country and millions of people tuned in every week to watch Monday night wrestling. One of the reasons for this increase in popularity was the inclusion of hardcore wrestling on the cards. While the wrestling purists hated it, casual fans loved the violence and brutal spots that came with these kinds of matches. It was because of this that WCW put on one of its dumbest ideas in the company's history: The Junkyard Invitational. Since it was an "unsanctioned invitational", WCW said there was no way of knowing who would show up. It also didn't help that the match went totally unadvertised leading up to the pay-per-view, resulting in exactly zero people buying the show to see the match. As for the "match", it took place within an actual junkyard surrounded by a fence. The winner would be the first man to climb over that fence and claim the victory. Did we mention that random cars were also wired to explode randomly throughout the match? Welcome to WCW, folks. The problem was that the match was shot at night from a helicopter, which made it almost impossible to even see who was wrestling, let alone what they were doing. It just came off like a bunch of shadowy figures vaguely fighting in the dark. The participants included such jobbers as Silver King, Jerry Flynn, Dave Taylor, and Mikey Whipwreck. Finlay won the debacle by climbing over the fence and claiming the WCW "Hardcore Trophy". To make matters worse, many of the wrestlers in the match were seriously injured. Of course, no one knew this at the time because the special effects made everything look so fake.
