More of a time limit scramble by definition, WrestleMania 16's most baffling bout saw Crash Holly defend his Hardcore Championship against a host of challengers (including Tazz, Viscera, Funaki, and all three members of the Mean Street Posse). With the match's 15 minute time limit expiring, and Crash still in possession of his title, Hardcore Holly leaped into the ring and shattered a candy jar over his cousin's head before making the cover. The plan was to have time expire before the referee could count three, but Hardcore made the pinfall attempt far too quickly, forcing the referee to abort his count and pretend Crash got a shoulder up (when he very clearly didn't). http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4ycbc_15-minute-hardcore-title-battle-roy_sport The WWF called a clumsy audible to correct the equally clumsy mistake, playing Hardcore's music and declaring him the winner, despite the referee clearly never counting three. It was a horrible finish to a horrible match, one which contributed to 'Mania 16's largely bad reputation.
