10 Most Ridiculous WWE Title Changes Of The 2000s

1. Triple H Awards Himself World Heavyweight Championship

There are many different ways to introduce a new championship into the mix. A tournament, for one. How about a battle royal? Even a major match between two significant stars. Just anything, absolutely anything would be better than the way the WWE introduced the World Heavyweight Championship in 2002. When Brock Lesnar became Smackdown exclusive following his Undisputed Championship victory at SummerSlam, WWE felt they needed a major title for Raw, too. The Intercontinental Championship was the de facto main title on Raw and those in charge felt it wasn't a big enough belt for someone like Triple H. So they created the World Heavyweight Championship, which was the big gold belt associated with the NWA and WCW World Heavyweight Championships and just gave it to Triple H. Then General Manager of Raw Eric Bischoff came out and awarded Trips the belt in an elaborate ceremony. He didn't have to beat anyone, he was just deemed to be the biggest star on the show. Needless to say, this ruffled a lot of feathers and gave Triple H's detractors more ammunition to use against him.
