The Road Warriors/Legion of Doom were one of the best and most influential tag teams in the history of professional wrestling. Although their matches do not hold up to modern scrutiny, they were a breathtaking act in their day. Hawk and Animal drew incredible money as the jobber-destroying, face-painted Warriors. Their best years were undoubtedly in the 1980s but they still had decent runs in the WWF, Japan and WCW in the 90s. By the early 2000s, however, the Warriors looked finished. A disastrous match on Raw in 2003 against Rob Van Dam and Kane seemed to signal the end for the once-great team. If that match didn't do it, the death of Michael 'Hawk' Hegstrang certainly did. With the death of Hawk, how could the Road Warriors possibly go on? With a newer, crappier member, of course! WWE made the completely clueless Jon Heidenreich a member of the new LOD with a beer bellied Animal in 2005. Their run was basically a shameless way of promoting the new Road Warriors DVD that the WWE had coming out. Their Tag Team Title win over the promising MNM at the 2005 Great American Bash was a farce. That they held the belts for another few months is simply incredible.
