10 Most Ridiculous WWE Title Changes Of The 2000s

8. The Death Of The Cruiserweight Division

If Jacqueline winning the Cruiserweight Championship didn't signal the end for the belt, then walking punchline Hornswoggle capturing the gold certainly did. Finlay's diminutive sidekick won the belt at the 2007 Great American Bash. Hornswoggle wasn't even booked in the match. The cruiserweight division had been long neglected by WWE but it, even if it was treated with total apathy, it was still somewhat serious. There was usually a Cruiserweight Championship match on Smackdown PPVs and WWE seemed to have faith in guys like Gregory Helms (who held the belt for over a year) to carry the division. But when Helms went down with a neck injury and was sidelined for over a year, WWE lost faith in the division and championship. Chavo Guerrero held the title for a number of months, having a pretty unmemorable reign before WWE decided to kill it off once and for all at The Great American Bash. WWE retired the belt a few months after Hornswoggle's victory claiming that because of his size and the fact that he was Vince McMahon's son, it would be unwise for him to continue to compete. Ladies and gentleman, your last ever Cruiserweight Champion: Hornswoggle.
