10. Brock Lesnar And Big Show Break The Ring (2003)
In 2003, Brock Lesnar was at the very top of the tree in the WWE. He had beaten The Rock to win the WWE World title at SummerSlam the previous year, but had lost the belt to Big Show before regaining it from Kurt Angle at WrestleMania XIX. However, Big Show was his biggest foe, both literally and figuratively. Given his opponents sheer size, he was seen as the ultimate test for Lesnar. On June 11th 2003, the two had a singles match as the main event on an episode of SmackDown. Big Show grabbed Lesnar by the throat, as if to deliver a choke slam, but then he began climbing to the top rope, a very unusual move for him (although he was known to head for the top rope early in his career). Lesnar fought him off, before climbing to the top rope himself and delivering a huge superplex. As about 800 lbs of humanity crashed down into the ring from a height, the opposite ring post buckled, followed by the others and the entire ring collapsed. The wrestlers lay motionless in the ring. The referee looked stunned. The crowd gasped before declaring their approval vociferously. The match was stopped and the wrestlers were given medical attention. Nobody seemed to care that there was no result. The impact? Well, the angle was repeated with Mark Henry and Big Show in 2011, which is always a sign of a successful angle first time around. It meant that matches between Show and Lesnar, which had been going on for a while, were given renewed vigour, furthered by when manager Paul Heyman turned on Lesnar at the Survivor Series that year.
