During the late 1980s, Demolition survived the stigma of being Road Warrior impersonators to carve out their own path of destruction in WWE. They dominated an impressive WWE Tag Team division that included teams such as The British Bulldogs, The Brain Busters, Powers of Pain, The Rockers, and Hart Foundation. Demolition also beat some impressive makeshift teams such as Akeem & The Big Bossman and Honky Tonk Man & Greg Valentine.

No one gave it a second thought when they were set to defend their tag belts against an over the hill Andre the Giant and underachieving Haku on an episode of Superstars of Wrestling. Fans should have known better given Andre’s history for shocking the world. The Colossal Connection won the belts in a clean finish via pinfall. This set the stage for an epic re-match at WrestleMania VI, won by Demolition.
