10 Most Shocking Revelations From WWE In 2019
6. WWE Still Has An Institutional Bullying Problem
Speaking of Corey Graves!
It was not a revelation that Mauro Ranallo struggles with aspects of his mental health. He's been very open about this for a number of years now and publicly advocates for several mental health charities and initiatives. What was a revelation, was WWE's interior handling of the incident that led up to him missing a November episode of NXT.
Graves had publicly gone after Ranallo's announcing style during the Survivor Series weekend, saying “Just for the record guys, I know you wouldn’t know it, but there’s actually a WWE Hall of Famer AND a former Ring Of Honor Champion on commentary. I’d imagine they have a lot to offer”. Ranallo, clearly valuing the opinion of his colleagues and taking the criticism to heart, has still not returned to work.
However, the worst detail of this entire story remains the internal appraisal of it from WWE. Allegedly the company deemed Graves to be the babyface in the situation and, to some people, even the victim. Whatever you might think about Ranallo's reaction, publicly going after a colleague you know struggles with his mental health is something your employer should have an issue with.
