10 Most Shocking Wrestling Heel Turns
1. Hogan Goes Hollywood
Fans who came of age in the Attitude Era know Hulk Hogan as one of wrestling's great heels - a role he has been taking perhaps a little too seriously over recent years - but the notion of the man who once embodied goodness and light as a villain sits a little less comfortably with some.
In the 1980s, Hogan was the leading figure of a wrestling industry which appealed, primarily, to wholesome family fun, rarely if ever passing up the opportunity to talk up the Hulkamaniacs by whom he was adored, or herald the United States as the world's number one.
When he wasn't rescuing kittens stuck up a tree or foiling Soviet plans for world domination, the Hulkster could usually be seen coming to the aid of his fellow goodies in their mutual fight against evil. And that's exactly what we expected to see when he rushed down to the ring at WCW's Bash at the Beach, as Randy Savage took a beating from Outsiders Hall and Nash.
But after watching the nWo's "Third Man" drop a leg on his former friend, everyone in the arena - not least of all Gene Okerlund - was legitimately stunned, and responded in kind as only wrestling fans could: by throwing their trash into the ring.
