Throughout 2008, one of the biggest storylines was centered on Vince McMahons illegitimate child. The idea was that Vince had sired another child with a different woman, and somehow that child now worked for WWE. At the storys climax, a lawyer for that woman began using riddles to reveal who that child was (because the real world totally works that way), and after teasing that it might be Triple H (which wouldve made family reunions incredibly awkward), the lawyer revealed that Vinces child was actually Hornswoggle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMRg683_BT0 It was a shocking moment because so much time was invested in this storyline, so fans were hoping for a major payoff. What we got instead was a cheap storyline that soon led to Hornswoggle being insulted, put in unfair matches (for example, against the Great Khali), and a continuation of the whole McMahon Family Drama focus of regular storytelling on RAW. It was revealed later that the original plan for this storyline was to have Ken Kennedy be revealed as McMahons illegitimate child. Kennedy would be given a monster push, try to take over the WWE, and would allegedly have a match with Triple H at WrestleMania. Whether thats entirely true or not, it wouldve been a much more interesting storyline and more shocking of a revelation than WWE making continuous leprechaun jokes with Hornswoggle.
