10 Most Shocking WWE Roster Cuts EVER

1. Edge

WWE Royal Rumble 2020 Edge
WWE

Unlike Mysterio, Jericho, and Big Show, Edge made his name in WWE.

He came of age in the promotion, rising up the ranks from tag team sensation to midcard singles star to world champion over a decade of hard work. When he made his miraculous return from a career-ending injury in 2020, he chose to come back to WWE. He'd seemingly committed his final years to the company that had made him a household name, but that was about to change.

At AEW WrestleDream 2023, after Christian Cage defeated Darby Allin in the main event, the familiar sound of Alter Bridge's Metalingus rang out around the arena.

Out came the Rated-R Superstar, using his real name of Adam Copeland.

This was like a fever dream. Somebody had made an Edge CAW and put it in the AEW video game, but in real life. The fact that Edge had chosen not only to join WWE's biggest rivals, but to do so in the twilight of his career, simply didn't make sense. It's this sort of unthinkable twist that makes professional wrestling one of the greatest forms of entertainment on planet Earth.
