It feels like everything€™s already been said about the infamous 1997 Survivor Series in Montreal. Bret Hart was going to WCW, he didn€™t want to drop the title to Shawn Michaels after numerous backstage run-ins, a finish was planned where multiple people would run in and Bret would forfeit the belt on RAW the following night. That's what was supposed to happen.

I was 12 years old when this show happened. I remember getting up an hour early for school the next morning, to put in my VHS recording of the show, skip to the main event and watch it before I had to leave. I couldn€™t go through the whole Monday not knowing what happened.

The atmosphere and the big fight feel made this match feel special. As it neared its conclusion, HBK had Bret in the sharpshooter when all of a sudden the bell rings, Michaels' music hits and we have a new WWF Champion. I couldn€™t work out what had happened. I rewound the tape 5 or 6 times but couldn€™t find the submission. I€™d never seen anything like it and had to wait until that Friday€™s RAW and the next month€™s Power Slam to fully comprehend the story.

On that night in Montreal, Bret Hart got screwed and he€™d never be the same again.
