10 Most Shocking WWE Survivor Series Moments

4. The Shield Debut To Attack Ryback And Cost Him The WWE Championship (2012)

Without Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, the WWE product would be a far less interesting place. The way they entered the landscape during the main event of Survivor Series 2012, remains one of the biggest and most unexpected debuts in company history.

Poor Ryback, after coming into the company and being undefeated in the Goldberg 2.0 gimmick, was thrust into the main event scene, challenging CM Punk over the WWE Championship. Only the company had no plans to put the belt on him, with Punk holding onto the title to drop to The Rock at the Royal Rumble in January.

At October€™s Hell In A Cell show, referee Brad Maddox screwed The Big Guy so at Survivor Series in a triple threat with Punk and Cena, the audience was ready for Ryback to take home the gold.

As he shellshocked John Cena, three men in black came from out of nowhere, brutally beating him down. Watching on pay per-view, I couldn€™t believe my eyes. Three young NXT rookies dressed like henchmen assaulted Ryback and cost him the title as Punk pinned Cena. What just happened?

It was a fitting debut for the next generation of WWE talent and a moment I€™ll never forget.
