Generally speaking, WWE usually attempt to stay away from the concept of death. Obviously, the idea comes with extreme finality, and it's also an incredibly sensitive subject. Looking at things another way, the company presents a TV show no different to the rules that govern others, so fatalities aren't out of the question entirely.

That said, they are treated with disdain by fans when handled badly. At WrestleMania XV, The Big Boss Man was set to face The Undertaker in a Hell In A Cell match. Fans had been conditioned to expect something memorable from the stipulation, but they were left with a sour taste in their mouths following this one.

Firstly, the match itself was pretty !*$% poor for the most part. For the lasting image after the matches conclusion, the promotion chose to have 'Taker hang Boss Man from the top of the structure, before having it rise up into the rafters.

This was quite the ill-conceived idea.

People like to lose themselves in the moment when tuning into WWE programming, and certainly don't want to see people hanged. Making a mockery of the concept even further, Boss Man later returned to TV, as if nothing had happened.
