Dan Kroffat, booker of Stampede Wrestling during its 1970s hey-day, was said to be the original mastermind behind the Ladder Match, having presided over the very first of its kind nearly 20 years before Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels introduced it to WWE fans at Wrestling Challenge in '92.

And the 'Hitman', who got his start north of the border before signing for Vince McMahon in 1984, was reportedly the one who persuaded his new employers to give it a try - which makes their copying it sort of OK.

Plus: literally every other promotion in existence has gone onto make it a staple match-type, with some of them (cough, WCW) hanging tasers, recording contracts and, err, ducks from the ceiling as well as title belts.
