7. Goldust

One of the most innovative characters of the 1990s, Goldust arrived between the New Generation and the Attitude Era, serving as a harbinger of the sexual overtones the company would soon immerse itself in. After months of mesmerizing vignettes where he quoted classic movies and hinted that his sexual appetite would be fulfilled by WWE superstars, the 'Bizarre One' made his in-ring debut at In Your House 4 in October 1995.

Goldust was an immediate hit with his elaborate entrance: dimmed lights, falling glitter, Hollywood Walk of Fame stars along the ramp, paparazzi snapping photos. Slowly taking off his golden robe and platinum blonde wig, Goldust basked in the spotlight. Unlike in most debuts, his opponent got the upper hand at the start, as Marty Jannetty rocked the androgynous being around the ring. The match went a little over ten minutes, and although it slowed in the middle, Goldust emerged as a resilient villain.
