10 Most Successful Wrestling PPV Debuts
6. Fandango
Wrestling
your first match on pay-per-view is high pressure, but making your in-ring
debut at WrestleMania is ulcer-inducing. Fandango earned that honor by agreeing
to face Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29, weeks after refusing to compete on
Raw and Smackdown because the announcers mispronounced his name. Y2J butchered
his name in a hilarious promo, infuriating the ballroom dancer and prompting
him to go fisticuffs.
Fandango
surprised everybody by countering the Walls of Jericho into a pin, immediately
establishing himself as a credible title contender. Unfortunately, his career
went downhill from there as poor booking reduced him into a jobber and comedy
act, seemingly destined to be released until teaming with Tyler Breeze as the
popular Fashion Police.
