3. The Boneyard Match
If the Firefly Funhouse Match was WWE's Academy Award nominee, the Boneyard Match was its People's Choice Award winner.
Watching AJ Styles and The Undertaker beat the holy hell out of each other around a cabin in the woods was far more entertaining than even the most wild-eyed optimist could have predicted. With the combatants coming in at a combined age of 97 it was reasonable to worry about the quality of the match, but both they and WWE's ever-stellar production team exceeded all expectations. This was cinematic pro wrestling executed perfectly, and everyone involved should be justifiably proud of what they achieved.
The Funhouse Match may have been more cerebral, but the elation felt on witnessing The Undertaker recapture the WrestleMania magic of old meant the Boneyard Match just about shaded it for us. It may be a case of voting with heart over head, but for us wrestling has always been about eliciting fist-pumping emotion over chin-stroking contemplation.
Fortunately, our final two entrants provided that emotion in spades...
