1. Abdullah The Butcher
Abdullah the Butcher was "hardcore" before the term was even created. Debuting in the late-1950s, he was billed as a psychopath from Sudan (he was actually from Canada), and became known for bringing a rusty fork to the ring.
The Butcher lived up to his name and was involved in some of the bloodiest matches professional wrestling has ever seen. He would often legitimately stab opponents with sharp objects, including, but not limited to, his signature fork. Back in 2014, an opponent accused the WWE Hall of Famer of infecting him with hepatitis C. He claimed to have contracted the disease from one of The Butcher's blades.
Even opponents had to feel uneasy about stepping in the ring with Abdullah, as he was said to have cut other wrestlers without prior consent.
With a head full of scars, the blade-wielding madman was a shining example of a character that made fans think that "maybe this professional wrestling stuff isn't so fake after all".
