Steel Cage Matches were very different in the WWF of the 1980's than they are now in present-day WWE.

Older fans will fondly remember the blue bar structure, as opposed to the mesh style which later became more common as the 1990's went on. There's a classic feel to the look of the blue cage itself.

That wouldn't matter a jot if the action contained within the cage wasn't up to scratch, though. Thankfully, Big Boss Man provided a great heel opponent for none other than Hulk Hogan in May, 1989. The bout was actually taped in April, but wouldn't air until the May edition of Saturday Night's Main Event.

It was worth the wait.

The Boss Man's own handcuffs would come into play as the match roared towards the finish. The pace was hardly quick, but fans were enraptured by the idea of Hogan escaping the cage before his rival. This match serves as a love letter to those who dearly cherish that big man main event WWF style from yesteryear.
