10 Most Under-Rated Steve Austin Matches Nobody Talks About
8. Vs. Savio Vega (WWF In Your House 8, 1996)
During his early years in the then-WWF, Steve Austin was known as 'The Ringmaster'. The gimmick did nothing to accentuate anything about the man, and he seemed like just another mid card wrestler on the roster. It's startling to think, but even after Austin morphed into 'Stone Cold' and won the King Of The Ring in 1996, it'd take a while for him to gather steam. One feud responsible for tiding Austin over whilst the WWF figured out what to do with him was with Savio Vega. Of all people, the Puerto Rican clicked really well with 'The Rattlesnake', and the pair had several memorable encounters. The best occurred at In Your House 8 in May, 1996. Due to a power failure on May 26th, the tandem actually had to redo the bout on May 28th, as the company looked to appease ticked off Pay-Per-View customers. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x25th1h_steve-austin-vs-savio-vega-iyh_sport As Austin would write in his book, this played hell with their bodies. On the plus side, they had an even better match the second time around. The stipulation was a 'Caribbean Strap' Match, during which both men were joined at the wrist by a lengthy piece of leather. This stands tall as the very definition of an under-rated Steve Austin bout.
