10 Most Underrated Gimmicks Of WWE's New Generation Era
5. Mr. Hughes
Mr. Hughes was a huge, badass black man who wore shiny fedoras and suspenders. Also, he wrestled entire matches without ever taking his shades off. Is that enough of a reason to like this guy? But seriously, Curtis Hughes could hold his own with any of the big guys in the industry, and his feud with The Undertaker is still one of the more underrated ones of the New Generation era. Hughes was almost Goldberg-ian in the way he would clear a ring (except, despite his overweight frame, he could actually wrestle a full-length match). With Harvey Wippleman as his mouthpiece, Hughes was simply a stoic, imposing figure with a streak of nastiness in him. Hughes would later go on to have a bit more success in ECW before coming back to WWE during the Attitude Era as Chris Jericho's bodyguard. Unfortunately, he had zero personality upon his return. He was just an offensive Angry Black Man stereotype (and he no longer wore those kickass suspenders).
