Talk about your diverse tandems. The unlikely duos of Kane and X-Pac and The Undertaker and Big Show did battle in the summer of 1999, which wasn't exactly WWE's creative peak (although they were smashing it in the ratings). The Dead Man and the giant formed an 'Unholy Alliance', calling themselves the most dominant force in wrestling history ('Taker had also taken to mentoring Show backstage, too). They set their sights on Tag Team Champions X-Pac and Kane, who had captured the belts in a match against The Acolytes on Raw, and completely dominated them, leaving them laying in a heap on several occasions. This was a turning point in the character of Kane, since it was during this period that he learned what it meant to 'have a heart', showing pained emotion whenever his partner would be taken out by his kayfabe brother and his monstrous companion. It was a basic feud, but easily one of The Undertaker's best of 99 (where he had to endure untold amounts of Russo silliness). He was also carrying a lot of injuries at this time and would have to take an extended break soon after SummerSlam, where he and Show won the Tag Titles in a decent blowoff match.
