Plenty is said about CM Punk's WWE Championship run, the events that led to it and of course the drama that resulted in Punk and WWE parting ways, but not much is made of his run as the smug, straight edge scumbag he portrayed oh so perfectly. Punk's adventures with the Straight Edge Society made for gripping viewing as the group evolved past spreading the word of sobriety into being a full-blown cult. The way the Straight Edge Superstar implored viewers at home to raise their hands to the TV while also hardly ever becoming bothered by the constant booing and jeering made the whole thing that much creepier. However, it's before his disciples in Luke Gallows, Joey Mercury and Serena were brought into the fray that CM Punk provided us with some serious solo magic on the microphone, with this segment specifically demonstrating just how good Punk was long before the majority of fans started to truly stand up and take notice. We see arrogant wrestlers every week, but Punk showed a level of cockiness and self-worth in the promo below that really has to be seen to be believed. As an additional bonus, you'll get to see a bottle of whiskey receive a larger pop than Ryback has ever enjoyed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zej1K9B658o
Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
