10 Most Underrated WWE Royal Rumble Performers
8. The Miz
While the Miz may not boast any endurance feats or elimination records, slowly but surely he’s been proving himself a capable hand in the Royal Rumble match and an important piece of the puzzle.
For starters, you’ve got to admire his consistency; over the course of the past decade, the only year in which Miz hasn’t appeared in the Royal Rumble match was 2011 when he was busy defending the WWE Championship—successfully—against Randy Orton. Seems like a fair enough excuse.
That kind of reliability has, in turn, allowed the company to entrust him with a variety of roles. In 2012 he was the glue that held much of the contest together, lasting longer than any other entrant in a 45-minute showing. And at the other end of the scale, he’s been equally adept at providing some more comic relief; such as his anti-climactic seven-second showing in 2007 or by playing the fall-guy to the returning Bubba Ray Dudley in 2015.
It may not always make him look great, but that’s not always the end goal in wrestling. If we’re judging him on his contributions to the overall show, Miz has proven himself a useful asset in the Rumble over the years.
